Around fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for details.
A high-ranking political figure stated the incident rendered him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
